Trump wins the election

In a stunning return, Donald Trump has won the 2024 US presidential race -- BBC says victory in battleground states proves his political prowess. He carried Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, and North Carolina to become the second president to ever hold the office non-consecutively -- Grover Cleveland was the first.

Al Jazeera picks up global reactions to Trump's election win -- leaders worldwide recognized his comeback with congratulations, including Netanyahu and Keir Starmer.

CTV News highlights Trump's narrative that resonated with frustrated American voters -- Harris couldn't escape unpopular policies from her administration.

The WaPo notes the high voter turnout -- Trump made significant gains among demographics that many pollsters did not expect, including hispanic and black men.

Newsweek notes that Harris hasn't conceded yet -- her campaign says there are still votes to count in many swing states, but it's a longshot. Trump has already met the electoral college threshold and is leading in the remaining swing states.

Reasons for Kamala’s loss

Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election. CNN says Kamala lost because her campaign couldn't break free from Biden's shadow: Voters were not keen on “more of the same”.

Foreign Policy thinks cultural and identity issues weighed down her chances, though: Kamala's campaign got lost in the woke culture crossfire.

The Spectator says it's simpler than that, though: Kamala focused too much on hot topics like abortion and not enough on real voter concerns -- like the economy.

On the other hand, a Reddit user says Kamala's campaign was doomed by global post-Covid trends: Worldwide, incumbents faced backlash due to global inflation.

1) Republicans have retaken the US Senate, shifting the balance of power and impacting future Supreme Court nominations.

2) Stocks, dollar, and bitcoin soar as Donald Trump secures victory in the presidential race.

3) Trump's reelection could signal the end of ongoing legal challenges facing him.

4) Florida's bid to restore abortion protections failed, while six states voted to protect or expand abortion rights.
