Trudeau announces his resignation
Justin Trudeau, who has served as the leader of Canada's Liberal Party for 11 years and as prime minister for nine, has resigned. Axios says Trudeau's shocking resignation amid party struggles marks a political shift. He'll stay on until a new leader is chosen, though.
Watch Trudeau's resignation for yourself here.
The NYT says Trudeau's resignation wasn't a total shock: The move comes as Canada is grappling with how to deal with Trump's tariff threats. His resignation also came after members of the Liberal party pressure him to exit.
Hot Air says it's no good for Canada's Liberal Party: Trudeau's exit creates a vacuum, stirring political chaos and realigning Canadian strategies.
This Redditor had mixed feels, though: Good on Trudeau for bowing out when asked to, but he lacks an obvious successor.
Zendaya’s new ring
Zendaya wore a mysterious ring on her left hand to the Golden Globes. Yahoo says the move stirred up rumors of a possible engagement with Tom Holland.
For what it's worth, People Magazine says the rumors are true: A family insider confirmed their engagement! Zendaya and Tom stayed mum on the subject, though.
And Vogue seems to agree with the insider scoop, claiming Zendaya and Tom Holland are officially engaged!
Either way, this Redditor was happy for them: It's wild that they were first spotted together 4 years ago now!
Newly recognized dog breed
With roots dating back as far as 1,000 years, the Danish-Swedish Farmdog is now the American Kennel Club's 202nd breed. Akc.org says “Vienkels“ are set to join the Working Group in 2025.
Prnewswire says this is a big deal: The AKC's recognition is a celebration of heritage! Recognition isn't a sign of a new breed, it's a formal acknowledgment of the Danish-Swedish Farmdog's history and popularity.
Wbaltv.com says it’s a win for enthusiasts: The Farmdog can now compete in major shows! But some people worry about the breed becoming too popular -- as seen in the rise of the French bulldogs, it could lead to unhealthily-bred pups.
