It’s Tuesday, June 25 — here’s what you’ll find in today’s newsletter:

  • Trump’s idea to eliminate income taxes

  • The resurgence of travel agents

  • 4 quick hits of news from the last 24 hours

Trump's tariff plan

Trump suggested that he wanted to eliminate income taxes and substitute them with tariffs. Yahoo Finance wasn't a fan of the tariff-only plan: It would cause prices to surge, hurting middle and lower classes at a higher rate.

NY Mag also shot down Trump's tariff plan: It shifts the tax burden to the non-rich. Don't be fooled -- this isn't part of a nationalist plan to stick it to China.

And National Review said Trump's idea didn't make economic sense: The plan would spike prices and hurt workers -- the very same things that Trump's accused Biden's policies of doing.

Still, a Financial Post Op says Trump's tariff idea isn't complete hogwash: Raising tariffs could force foreign countries to drop prices on their exports to stay competitive.

On a different note, AP News says Trump and Biden's trade policies are surprisingly similar: Both favor heavy tariffs, which could fuel inflation.

Travel agents are back

Once a relic of the past, Insider writes that travel agents are making a comeback: Gen Z and millennials are enticed by vacays without the hassle.

Forbes says they're popular for good reason: Using travel advisors for stress-free vacations is especially beneficial post-covid. They cut down on the chaos.

But the NYT thinks they're not always worth the cost: DIY trip planning often trumps travel agents -- plus, AI makes planning a trip easy.

And Outside Online says savvy, budget-conscious travelers can skip them: Travel agents aren't worth the hype.
