🚭 The UK’s vape ban
Is the UK’s impending ban on disposable vapes a win for public health, or a setback for adult smokers trying to quit?
🚭 In an effort to protect children's health, the UK has announced a ban on disposable vapes. Gov.uk supports the move: It's a step towards a smoke-free generation.
🚭 But The Guardian argues that the ban may cause some smokers to relapse — it could deter adults from using vapes to quit smoking.
🚭 Similarly, Talking Retail thinks the ban may push smokers back to tobacco, calling it a “policy miscalculation” that risks public health progress.
🚭 But The Daily Record says no the impending vape ban is a huge win for public health and the environment — especially for the youth.
🎨 Throwing soup at the Mona Lisa
A soup-throwing stunt at the Mona Lisa stirs a hot debate on protest tactics and climate urgency.
🎨 WaPo: Climate activists hurled soup at the Mona Lisa. The painting is unharmed because there's protective glass in front. Is it an ethical form of protest?
🎨 The LA Times argues that it's a necessary form of protest — a great way to grab attention for an issue. There's a reason it happens so often.
🎨 But Areo Mag disagrees: Attacking art undermines eco-activism's goals and doesn’t affect the real climate-change culprits.
🎨 Forbes is conflicted. The Mona Lisa soup protest spotlights important climate issues, but may turn people against the cause. Hard to say!
