Switzerland’s suicide booth
Lemonde: There's a suicide booth in Switzerland called “Sarco” -- it's supposed to help people commit assisted suicide. It works by filling a human-sized capsule with nitrogen, which kills the user painlessly.
Al Jazeera: It's being investigated by the Swiss government -- several people were arrested and charged after a person used the Sarco to die. Assisted dying is legal in Switzerland, but giving “external assistance” isn't.
This Redditor doesn't get the problem -- if they pushed the button themselves, isn't that their own decision? How is it any different from somebody buying a gun or rope at a store?
Another Redditor responded and disagreed -- the company is manufacturing the item for the specific purpose of suicide, it's not like a rope or a gun. The company knows exactly what the user intends to do with it.
Ellen’s comedy special
Ellen dropped a new comedy special called “For Your Approval”. Variety liked the spectacle of the new special, but they're not sure the bombastic intro compensates for a lack of engagement with her past controversies.
Time said the whole thing came off as fake -- her jokes feel uninspired, which isn't exactly the best look when trying to rehabilitate her image. Also, she really didn't talk enough about the allegations of cruelty while on the “Ellen” show.
The Independent found it bizarre and unfunny. It felt like Ellen tried to paint herself as a misunderstood martyr -- she heavily hinted that the outrage against her was largely because she's a woman.
The NYT sees what she's saying, though -- there's a deeper, more feminist angle in the special. Ellen makes some solid remarks on expectations for female leaders versus their male counterparts.

2) China launches its biggest stimulus since the pandemic, including a central bank rate cut, to revive its economy.
3) CNN poll shows Kamala Harris leading among young voters against Trump, but with a narrower margin than Biden in 2020.
4) Speaker Mike Johnson relies on Democratic support for a government funding bill to avoid a shutdown.
