Sports Illustrated ignited controversy for publishing articles written by AI under fake names. They denied it, but many think they’re guilty.

🤖 Futurism: Sports Illustrated (aka SI) published articles written by AI under fake names. Even the image for the "writer" was AI-generated.

🤖 SI denied the whole thing. They said it was the fault of a third-party contractor, and said only the writer's picture and bio were generated by AI.

🤖 WaPo says the SI staff were furious when the news broke. They were already upset about increased quotas, and this just added fuel to the fire.

🤖 A different WaPo opinion is sad about it. SI used to be amazing — what happened? Journalism is doomed!
