🚬 Smoking indoors?

Happy Thursday! It’s September 14 — people are talking about the turf field at MetLife Stadium, Timothée Chalamet smoking indoors, and more.

As always, we’ve summarized and organized the different shades of perspective, so you can see the big picture quickly.

🏟 In the news: The turf field at MetLife Stadium

Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on the artificial field at MetLife stadium. NFL players are upset, and they think it's time all games were played on real grass.

🏟 USA Today: The NFL Players Association called for the league to switch all fields to grass. The players have been pushing for grass fields for years, because turf fields are believed to cause more injuries.

🏟 Bleacher Report notes that MetLife is notorious for causing injuries. Eagles cornerback Darius Slay said "a lot of guys have season-ending injuries there".

🏟 But Touchdown Wire pointed out that MetLife actually put in new turf before the season, ditching the controversial “slit film” turf. During the preseason, Aaron Rodgers called it "one of the best" artificial fields.

🏟 Still, turf is turf, says OutKick. Grass lets players grip the field, while turf is more slippery. And Rodgers slipped when he got hurt!

🚬 Cultural trend: Smoking indoors?

A video of Timothée Chalamet smoking in the VIP section of a crowded stadium ruffled some feathers. Is the outrage justified?

🚬 Insider said some Chalamet fans aren’t happy with the video. It took place at a Beyoncé concert in SoFi Stadium, where smoking is not allowed.

🚬 @hotsumerswiftin called the behavior gross. Come on, Timothée — this isn't the time or place for a smoke.

🚬 But @chaoticgrrrrrl doesn’t understand the outrage. Did people really think that Chalamet doesn't smoke? He has serious smoker vibes.

🚬 @propanexchange thinks the issue isn't that Chalamet smokes — the problem is he's “ashing onto random people” in a stadium.

🚬 On the other hand, Vice had sympathy for Chalamet. Over 28m Americans smoke cigarettes, and we should revive smoking sections in large stadiums. Adults can make their own health decisions — let people live a little!
