Kamala secures the nomination
Kamala Harris, the current Vice President, got the Democratic nomination for 2024 election. The DNC announced that she has the delegates that she needs.
@JoeBiden reacted with pride -- saying picking Kamala as his running mate was one of his best decisions: “Let's win this”.
But Hot Air reacted to the news with skepticism: After the huge Biden flip-flop, who knows if the DNC will stick with Kamala! They could decide to “negate” 50 state primaries and caucuses again.
What do Democrats think of their nominee? The NYT offered some perspectives: Democrats are hopeful about Kamala…but some grapple with uncertainties.
Simone’s GOAT necklace
Olympian Simone Biles won her second all-around title in Paris. She wore a diamond-encrusted goat necklace when accepting her gold medal -- a reference to her GOAT (Greatest of All Time) status in the world of gymnastics.
Simone Biles' herself says the GOAT necklace is contentious: Fans love it, but “the haters hate it”. To her, it symbolizes her ability to perform when it matters most.
Vogue was a fan: Simone Biles' GOAT is so fitting -- it symbolizes her legendary status as an athlete.
Harper's Bazaar highlights how it was made: Cali jeweler Janet Heller said it was handcrafted with 546 diamonds, and “reflects her dedication, perseverance, and the spirit that has inspired generations”.
