🏛️ In the news: Rep. Tlaib gets censured
Rep. Rashida Tlaib was censured by the House, causing a stir among both Democrats and Republicans. Was her censure warranted?
🏛️ Truthout: 22 Democrats joined Republicans to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib. She accused Biden of supporting genocide in Gaza, criticized the Israeli government, and made other remarks that ignited controversy.
🏛️ Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell spoke out against the measure. She said it would be wrong to silence Tlaib, who was just exercising her right to free speech.
🏛️ But the National Review disagreed: Shame on Democrats for defending Tlaib. Dingell was wrong to twist the meaning of Tlaib's antisemitic statements on Israel.
🏛️ And Hot Air said Tlaib could've earned more than just a censure: The GOP could have moved to expel her. She made antisemitic comments and then lied about it.
🏛️ Either way, it seems like Tlaib is standing firm. In response to the censure resolution, she said she'll continue to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and stand up for Palestinians.
👥 Cultural trend: Highly Sensitive Person
Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) is the latest buzzword in mental health. Some say it's legit, while others call it a fad.
👥 Forbes says HSPs make up around 20-30% of the world. They're more aware of subtleties, and process information deeply.
👥 And Psychology Today says HSPs are a real thing. But being more sensitive isn't always a good thing — it leads HSPs to feel negative emotions more frequently than the average person.
👥 But The Guardian thinks being an HSP may just be another way of saying you're introverted or neurotic. No need to pathologize normal human behavior.
👥 i-D Magazine agrees: HSP might just be another trend in social-media-fueled self-diagnosis.
👥 On the other hand, if you're okay with self-diagnosis, Inc shares 27 questions to determine if you're an HSP or not.
