⚖️ The E. Jean Carroll / Trump verdict

Is the Carroll v. Trump verdict a win for accountability, or a political ploy?

⚖️ A jury ordered Trump to pay $83M for defaming E. Jean Carroll. Rolling Stone sees it as a victory for accountability — it's nice to see high-profile figures face punishment for wrongdoing.

⚖️ New Republic agrees: Trump's hefty $83.3M payout to Carroll is a great win for accountability, and the speedy verdict reflects the gravity of the accusations.

⚖️ The Hill reports that Trump thought the sum was “ridiculous”, and politically motivated. He promises to appeal.

⚖️ CNN: Former Trump attorney Jim Trusty says the number isn't too crazy though — Trump consistently attacked Carroll in the press.

⚖️ The Guardian says the whole trial was disappointing. So many tantrums from Trump — it doesn't bode well for the presidential race.

⏰ Why is part-time work on the rise?

Part-time jobs are soaring, with workers valuing flexibility over the full-time grind.

⏰ With the rise of gig economy and flexible work schedules, part-time jobs are hitting record highs. USA Today says it's a mix of worker preference and economic shifts.

⏰ And Time agrees, reporting that more Americans are choosing part-time work for lifestyle and flexibility reasons.

⏰ WaPo provides a different perspective: Gen Z's part-time job boom is about more than just cash — it's a cultural shift away from full-time jobs.

⏰ But Chron.com says beware, part-time work's flexibility is a double-edged sword. You usually don't get benefits or holidays!
