DNC night one
Night one of the Democratic Convention featured speeches from Biden and Clinton. The NYT says the major moment of the night featured Biden passing the torch to Harris, symbolizing a move away from the old guard.
Al Jazeera noted the protests, though: Thousands gathered outside the convention to protest the U.S.'s support of Israel amid the Gaza war.
Newsweek offered a different takeaway: Night 1 of the DNC signaled that attacking Project 2025 may not be the best strategy.
Still, NPR said night one performances highlighted party unity: Mickey Guyton and Jason Isbell's performances celebrated national values.
By the way, The Free Press noted that Pennsylvania senator Fetterman was notably absent from the DNC: His pro-Israel stance isolates him from Democrats, but he has no regrets.
