🇺🇸 What is Henry Kissinger’s legacy?
Henry Kissinger died at age 100. His legacy is up for debate — some call him a brutal mass murder, while others say he was an expert statesman.
🇺🇸 Henry Kissinger died on Nov. 29 at age 100. New Republic said good riddance — he was awful. He sought political power at any cost, and destroyed so many lives in the process.
🇺🇸 Rolling Stone agreed — he was a war criminal, and the US should be ashamed of him and his actions. One report says he caused the deaths of 3-4 million people globally.
🇺🇸 But WaPo thinks it's not that simple. Kissinger’s legacy is complicated — he had his flaws, but he also did a lot for American diplomacy. His proudest achievement was negotiating the de-escalation of Israel and Egypt in 1973.
🇺🇸 The Atlantic Council says he was overwhelmingly good for the world — truly a one-of-a kind strategist and a crucial advisor for many presidents. We owe a great deal to Kissinger.
🇺🇸 An Anthony Bourdain quote from 2001 is going viral: "Once you've been to Cambodia, you'll never stop wanting to beat Henry Kissinger to death with your bare hands.”
⛪ Is it OK to shoot a music video at church?
Sabrina Carpenter's filmed a music video for her song “Feather” at a church, sparking outrage.
⛪ NYT: Sabrina Carpenter shot a music video in a Catholic church, leading to outrage from the Diocese of Brooklyn, and the firing of the church’s pastor.
⛪ Hot Air says the backlash is valid: It seems like Carpenter's team lied to shoot their video. What a slap in the face to Catholics everywhere.
⛪ On the other hand, @dekingkudos thinks the Catholic church is picking the wrong battles — the priest shouldn't have been punished.
⛪ Either way, it doesn't seem to be phasing Sabrina. In an interview with Variety, she quipped that “Jesus was a carpenter”.
