🎤 Biden’s comments on protests

🎤 Biden issued a response to heated pro-Palestine protests on college campuses. Bloomberg says he emphasized the importance of order, defending “the right to protest but not the right to cause chaos”.

🎤 You can read Biden's complete remarks here. He emphasized there was “no place” for antisemitism or Islamophobia in America.

🎤 The NY Post Ed Board slammed Biden's response: He's fence-sitting! His quip about Islamophobia panders to extremists.

🎤 National Review's take: Biden's response was “fine”…but it was late. He spoke after police cleared many on-campus protests.

🎤 An NYT Op had a slightly different take: Biden said the right things. But his remarks probably won't impress voters — it lacks bite and action.

🎤 Either way, CNN says the stakes are high: Biden's balancing act on protests could make or break his political future.

🎻 NY Philharmonic scandal

🎻 Vulture: There's turmoil in NY Philharmonic over sexual assault claims: Musicians Wang and Muckey were fired in 2018 allegedly drugging and raping a horn player in 2010, but reinstated in 2020.

🎻 NYT: The orchestra suspended the two men and is launching a new investigation into the allegations — largely in response to that Vulture article, which went viral in the classical music community.

🎻 A Redditor on r/ClassicalMusic says it's typical of orchestra culture — it's disgusting how frequently this sort of thing happens.

🎻 The NYT notes that the two men accused are suing for wrongful suspension. They say the decision came without cause and violated binding arbitration.
