🎤 In the news: Chapelle’s comments on Israel

Comedian Dave Chappelle's comments on the Israel-Hamas war during a Boston show stirred up controversy.

🎤 The WSJ covers the details: Chappelle condemned the Hamas attack on Israel, and then he went on to accuse Israel of “war crimes” in Gaza — prompting both cheers and walk-outs from his show.

🎤 Outkick thinks Chappelle has it all wrong: Equating Israel's actions with Hamas is unfair. Hamas is a violent terrorist group; Israel avoids killing civilians.

🎤 @judymorris3 gave Chappelle kudos, though. He's thinking for himself about the Israel war, and his take is “common sense”.

🎤 The NYT had a different take: Don't take Chappelle too seriously. This is what comedians do — they talk about controversial subjects.

🎤 Chappelle himself said the media is reporting “hearsay” on his show in Boston — people aren't reporting what he actually said on stage.

📱 Cultural trend: What is nomophobia?

Nomophobia is the fear of being without your phone. Is it a sign that we all use our phones too much, or just a sign of the times?

📱 Stylist says nomophobia sufferers should re-examine their screen habits: They tend to have a harder time connecting with other people.

📱 Psychology Today agreed: Nomophobia is a serious problem, especially among young people. The phenomenon is linked to lower school grades.

📱 But WaPo thinks there’s no need to pathologize nomophobia. It's not the same thing as smartphone addiction.

📱 Still, if the anxious feeling bothers you, CNBC listed some ways to ward off nomophobia.
