The debate over whether Biden should step down

4 quick hits of news from the last 24 hours
Should Biden step down?
The WSJ: After a shaky debate performance against Trump, Democrats are discussing replacing Biden. Concerns about his age and ability to serve have reached a fever pitch.
The Atlantic says it's time: Biden should step down. His debate performance was a disaster and he looked too old.
A Financial Times Op agreed: Biden's gotta go. It's not too late to replace him -- the DNC can still recover.
But Kamala Harris shut down questions of a Biden replacement. She said that Biden might've lacked “style points” but has strong “substance”.
California governor Newsom also defiantly pushed back: Biden has a strong record, and Dems should back him.
NBC's take: Even if Dems chose to replace Biden, it wouldn't be easy. Party rules and delegate loyalty make it nearly impossible.
But a different Atlantic article says that's why Biden should step down willingly: If he really wants to save democracy, he needs to do right by the Democratic Party.
New Alzheimer’s drug
The Telegraph: The FDA approved a new Alzheimer's drug called donanemab -- it's amazing, and it's given patients their lives back by improving memory.
Axios questions its long term benefits -- it might just be a temporary fix.
Forbes: And the drug raises big concerns about equity and cost -- minorities were underrepresented in trials.
Wired thinks it looks promising, but it can only work if patients get diagnosed -- digital cognitive tests and AI could help with that.
