  • Namibia's wildlife cull

  • 4 quick hits of news from the last 24 hours

RFK’s motivations

RFK Jr. endorsed Trump after suspending his presidential campaign. The Atlantic says RFK Jr.'s endorsement stems from shared anti-establishment views and desperation -- he felt betrayed by Democrats.

LA Times: His brother, Max Kennedy, says it's a “hollow grab for power“ -- RFK has completely betrayed his father's legacy and values, and is just trying to stay relevant. Ignore him!

The Hill's Maggie Haberman thinks the endorsement makes sense -- Trump and RFK Jr. are “two very transactional people”. RFK Jr. wanted to meet with Harris, but she declined, so he went to Trump.

NYT: It's been quite a journey for RFK Jr. -- he's gone from environmental lawyer to supporting a guy who says climate change is a “hoax”. Some of his colleagues says it makes sense, he's been interested in conspiracy theories since the 2000s.

Namibia's wildlife cull

Namibia plans to kill over 700 wild animals, including elephants and hippos, to provide meat for drought-affected people. CNN says the cull aims to alleviate food insecurity and reduce human-wildlife conflicts.

Africa News: Some activists say the culling may be politically motivated -- it should be stopped, the animals must be protected.

But this Redditor says the drought is too severe, these animals will die anyway. The least we can do is use their meat to help humans survive.

This Redditor understands, but says it's sad -- honestly, it's the government's fault for not protecting their citizens. We can also blame the international community for letting it get this bad!
