Martial law in South Korea

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared emergency martial law, accusing the opposition of anti-state activities and sympathizing with North Korea. Yahoo says Yoon's move comes as he struggles to push his agenda in an opposition-controlled parliament.

AP News says Yoon's move comes amid falling approval ratings. The martial law declaration sparked emergency meetings among the Democratic Party.

ABC News notes that the declaration also comes as Yoon dismisses calls for independent probes into alleged scandals involving his wife and top officials.

Al Jazeera: Yoon says he's acting in the interest of a liberal South Korea, though. He says he aims to protect a liberal democracy against subversion, blaming the opposition for chaos and safety threats.

Moana 2’s box office success

Collider: It's official! “Moana 2” has broken records with a $225.2M 5-day opening, making it the biggest debut ever for Walt Disney Animation Studios.

NZ Herald notes that it beat the previous record holder, “Frozen 2” -- and in New Zealand, Moana 2 had the highest animated opening day in history.

Huff Po: It also set a Thanksgiving record for Walt Disney Animation Studios

Yahoo says its strong start is a big surprising given how poor the early review were -- it's only at a paltry 64% on Rotten Tomatoes. The first movie got a 95% score!
