Is a recession coming?
Job growth in the U.S. fell significantly in July, raising concerns about a recession. Hot Air says we should brace ourselves: We're aren't there yet, but a recession looms -- the Sahm rule is in play.
A Financial Times Op was also pessimistic: The Fed might've held rates too high for too long. Troubling economic data says dreams of a soft landing may be cut short.
The Economic Policy Institute was even more pessimistic: The data is clear -- The Fed held high rates for too long.
But economist Claudia Sahm -- who coined the Sahm rule -- thinks a recession isn't imminent. She said “We are still in a good place”.
Logitech’s Forever Mouse
CNET: Logitech's CEO floated the idea of a “Forever Mouse”: A subscription-based premium mouse with paid software updates that you keep forever.
Listen to the CEO Hanneke Faber talk “Forever Mouse” here. She said if Logitech were to make one, it would be like the “Rolex” of mouse -- the software would be updated as needed, though.
PC World hated the idea: Logitech's “forever mouse” idea is predatory and anti-consumer. The company should make a well-made mouse you don't need a subscription for!
Still, PC Gamer says other industries have gone the subscription route -- think coffee beans and printer ink. Plus, a forever mouse would be a sustainable option.
