🗳️ Biden’s 2024 campaign strategy
Is Biden’s focus on defending democracy a sound campaign strategy for 2024?
🗳️ The Guardian: Biden is kicking off 2024 with renewed re-election campaign efforts. The theme is that he’ll defend democracy.
🗳️ Hot Air doesn’t like the approach: Biden is launching a “doom and gloom” tour — he's chosen to gloss over his failures and attack Trump instead.
🗳️ WaPo urged Biden to change strategies. He’d win over more voters if he chose to hit Trump over policies like healthcare and economics.
🗳️ But The Guardian defended Biden's focus on democracy: He’s sounding a vital health alert for the country — it's not just campaign rhetoric!
⚖️ The Las Vegas courtroom brawl
The courtroom attack on Judge Kay's has sparked debate on security risks and judicial humility, with some seeing it as a rare but serious wake-up call.
⚖️ During a sentencing hearing, Judge Mary Kay Holthus was assaulted by defendant Deobra Delone Redden in Las Vegas. The Guardian says this incident highlights courtroom security risks.
⚖️ NPR notes that attacks like this are on the rise. Yes, they're still rare, but the increase is concerning.
⚖️ WLIW agrees — it's horrible, but very rare. There's usually heavy security in courtrooms, although emotional cases can increase the danger.
⚖️ On the other hand, @mrwilliammedina interprets the attack as a wake-up call for judicial humility. Why was Judge Kay so smug about sending that man to jail?
