KSM’s plea deal
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged 9/11 mastermind, agreed to life in prison in a plea deal. AP News says it was to avoid the death penalty.
The Hill: It got some backlash from some victim's families and Republicans -- they wanted a trial, and many wanted to see him put to death.
CBC: One victim's sister strongly disagreed -- she welcomed the plea deal, it gives closure to a great many people. The case would've stretched on for years.
NYT: It's complicated -- some families want to see him put to death, but others think life is a suitable punishment. It might even be worse than death.
Swifties for Kamala
The Cut says Taylor Swift's fans are rallying behind VP Kamala Harris' bid for president: “Swifties for Kamala” aims to leverage the fanbase's power.
Wired says it's a serious political movement: The group has over 300 members, thousands of social media followers, and a Substack!
You can check out the Substack -- called “Paint The Town Blue” -- here.
Still, this Redditor questions the seriousness of the group: Taylor herself hasn't commented on the election!
But Vanity Fair thinks that could change: An endorsement from Swift would be a major boost to Harris's campaign.
