Biden’s press conference
President Biden held a press conference amid growing calls for him to quit his re-election bid. The WSJ says he did much better than his disastrous debate, but it won't be enough to silence critics.
A USA Today Op: Oh, c'mon people! Biden's presser went well. What will the “proud pundits” ask him to do next -- 100 pushups?
An NYT Op was impressed, too: Biden's tenacity and commitment to staying in the race is remarkable. He's successfully made his case to be the Democratic nominee.
On the other hand, Daily Wire called the performance a “disaster”: It was full of gaffes!
A Fox News Op's take: Biden's press conference performance leaves Democrats in a tough spot. Biden did well, but not well enough to completely silence fears -- further dividing the party.

J.D. Vance’s beard
J.D. Vance is a U.S. Senator from Ohio and a potential running mate for Trump in the upcoming election. The Bulwark says Vance's beard could hurt his chances of Trump choosing him: The ex-Prez hates facial hair.
But The Daily Beast points out that Trump seemed to offer Vance a glowing compliment on his beard: In an interview, Trump said it made Vance look like Abe Lincoln.
NY Mag: Actually, that wasn't a compliment! Trump has a long-running rivalry with Lincoln.
A Redditor on r/Politics scoffed at the absurdity of it all: Why is Trump choosing based on looks? What is this, “VP Pageant Tryouts”?
