Putin's Ceasefire Pitch

Putin proposes ceasefire in Ukraine: BBC says he demands four territories, troop withdrawal, and for Ukraine to drop being a part of NATO. Zelensky said this is just like Hitler -- he promised to stop the war if he got part of Czechoslovakia.

Sky News: Putin knew Ukraine would reject the offer. This is a strategic ploy.

The Independent: Italy's Meloni agrees, calling the ceasefire offer “propaganda”.

Institute for the Study of War does too: Putin's ceasefire proposal is just a ploy to gain more territory. He wants to swallow Ukraine, full stop.

The NYT looks back: The countries discussed a ceasefire back in 2022. These talks show how tough a real deal will be -- Russia demands total capitulation.

Is Father’s Day important?

Father's Day is a time to honor dads -- but for this Atlanta Journal Constitution Op, it's also about reflecting on the absence and presence of father figures.

The Atlantic agrees: Father's day inspires a mix of emotions -- and inspires current Dads to wonder about what legacy they'll leave behind.

A Redditor on r/UnpopularOpinion finds Father's Day unnecessary, though: Celebrating “forced appreciation” for just doing parental duties is silly.

But a HuffPo Op thinks the holiday is underrated because many dads go underappreciated: The day is necessary to celebrate the quirky, blunt life lessons fathers impart.

On another note, WaPo says the holiday is for “substitute dads”, too: Men who uplift single-parent families deserve some celebration.
