SCOTUS on Guns & Abusers

In U.S. v. Rahimi, SCOTUS upheld a federal law banning gun possession for individuals under domestic violence restraining orders. Fox News says the 8-1 decision aligns with historical firearm regulations.

Read the Court's full opinion here. It says domestic abusers can be temporarily disarmed to protect victims.

NY Attorney General Letitia James celebrated the ruling: SCOTUS ruling keeps guns out of domestic abusers' hands.

But this Redditor questioned the ruling: Giving government the power to remove people's guns without a crime conviction is a slippery slope.

The one dissenting Justice, Clarence Thomas, might agree. He argued banning Rishi from owning a gun would violate due process and Second Amendment rights.

Investing in art

Art investment is a love affair with high risks and rewards, says The NYT: It's a tricky investment, because art values fluctuates based on economy and trends.

Bloomberg disagrees: Art's a smart buy, even during times of market volatility. It tends to hold its value even when other investments tank.

A different Bloomberg Op praised art assets for a different reason: Art provides unique perks that stocks can't match.

But the WSJ says investing in art isn't for everyone: The art market's growth favors the ultra-rich, sidelining smaller dealers

And Defector outright objects to the practice: Art's true value is lost when it's treated like an investment.
