The hot mic debate

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are clashing over microphone rules for their upcoming ABC debate. Politico says Kamala's team wants live mics throughout the debate, but Trump's team prefers muted mics.

Kamala's team taunted Trump for the demand -- claiming his “handlers” want muted mics to avoid “embarrassment”.

But Hot Air says Trump's team is in the right: The original agreement between Trump and Kamala involved muted mics.

And NY Post says Trump doesn't consider the rule change a problem: He said he'd “rather have“ microphones on during the debate, anyway.

For what it's worth, Washington Examiner says Biden's team originally requested muted mics. Kamala's request for live mics could signal her team's looking for an “off-ramp”.

“Demure” trademark drama

TikTok creator Jools Lebron's viral phrase “very demure, very mindful” was filed for trademark by a Washington man Jefferson Bates. Today says Jools is not named in Bates' application.

Jools raised the problem in a teary TikTok video. She said the filing prevented her from cashing in on her internet fame -- and providing for her family and her transition. Watch the video here.

Hindustan Times says fans mourned with Jools over the injustice. But trademarks aren't granted on a first come, first serve basis. Multiple parties can make their case for a trademark.

This Redditor was angry for Jools: “Just like a dude to take credit for a woman's achievement”.

But this TikToker thinks it's not too late: The “very demure” trademark hasn't been granted to Bates yet. Jools should file her own application!
