4 quick hits of news from the last 24 hours
Kamala’s tax plan
Democratic nominee Kamala Harris proposed tax hikes on corporations and wealthy households. The WSJ says her plan would increase taxes by $5 trillion over a decade, while cutting taxes for most Americans.
A Fox News Op hated her plan: Kamala Harris' tax hikes will devastate the U.S. economy.
Reason was also anti-: Kamala's corporate tax hike would hit all Americans, not just the rich.
Forbes took issue with Harris' plan to tax unrealized capital gains: The idea is “scary” -- it could make evaluating assets more complex, and could open the door to more taxes on the less-wealthy.
WaPo argues differently: Kamala's tax plan on unrealized capital gains is a desperate move and won't raise enough money.
The Hochul aide spying scandal
Linda Sun, once an aide to NY Governor Hochul, is now accused of being a Chinese operative. CNN highlights Sun allegedly blocked a congrats to Taiwan's President to dodge CCP ire.
The New York Post: Sun's fortunes tipped people off eyebrows. Hochul, by the way, was the one who flagged the issue.
Daily Beast piles on: Sun's intimacy with Chinese officials profited her family with lavish goodies while under Hochul's wing.
Yahoo says this was a major security risk -- Sun covertly tailored state affairs to China's script.
Politico: Sun traded plush perks for her alleged espionage activities. This is part of a bigger international concern.
