The US launched airstrikes on two locations linked to Iran-supported militias in eastern Syria. Was it the right call, or will it escalate tensions?

🇸🇾 Time: Biden wants to hold Iran accountable for stirring up violence in the region, while preventing a wider escalation of the war. And the Pentagon said the strikes were in response to recent attacks launched on US forces in the area.

🇸🇾 The US Secretary of Defense said the strikes were initiated to protect US personnel in the region — it wasn't an attack created to escalate the situation.

🇸🇾 Hot Air approved: Bravo, Biden — way to show Iran that its proxy attacks on the US military didn't go unnoticed. The US should keep turning up the pressure on Iran.

🇸🇾 But CNN is worried about the entire situation. The Israel-Hamas war could easily fuel a direct US-Iran conflict. All parties should tread carefully.

🎃 Cultural trend: Has Halloween gone too far?

Some people think Halloween has gotten a little too spooky. Is the holiday unholy, or do folks need to chill?

🎃 A WSJ opinion was anti-Halloween: The holiday celebrates death and inspires depraved decorations and costumes. It has turned into an “industrial cartoon death cult”.

🎃 The Washington Examiner agreed: Celebrating Halloween just isn't worth it. It celebrates horror and borderline satanic imagery.

🎃 But The Conversation thinks Halloween isn't satanic. It's a celebration of life — and it's actually partially based on a 1200-year-old Christian festival.

🎃 Either way, Time pointed out that spiritual objections to Halloween have been around forever — and the debate probably won't die anytime soon.
