Biden’s Supreme Court reforms

President Joe Biden called for Supreme Court reforms -- specifically 18-year term limits and an enforceable code of ethics. He said “extremism is undermining the public's confidence” in the court.

Biden made his case in a WaPo Op: The Supreme Court reforms aim to restore trust and ensure that no one is above the law.

Mother Jones supported the move: It's about time! Biden’s Supreme Court reforms are long overdue and crucial to restoring trust.

But the WSJ Ed Board slammed the reform: Biden's plan is a radical political assault. He would effectively politicize the Supreme Court.

The NY Post Ed Board was also a harsh critic: Biden is threatening democracy! His term limits are a thinly veiled plan to fill the court with liberal justices.

An NYT Op had a different take: Biden's suggested reforms are useless -- they won't be enacted. Dems should focus on the election instead.

Half Dome safety

A hiker's fatal fall from Half Dome in Yosemite has sparked a debate on safety measures. LA Times says her father is pushing for better cable systems.

Manteca Bulletin: Adding “safety measures” is a mistake, it'll give people a false sense of security. Half Dome is inherently dangerous, you have to accept the risks.

Yosemite Hikes: Actually, you can make your own safety improvements -- avoid bad weather, stay inside the cables, and have the right gear.

Inked with Wanderlust recommends skipping Half Dome if you're a beginner or have health issues. You can always work up to it.
