Michelle Obama’s comments on Trump

Michelle Obama warned a rally crowd of Trump’s “gross incompetence” and “mental decline”. Her remarks in Michigan also branded Trump a “convicted felon, slumlord, and predator”.

In response, Trump slammed Obama's criticism as “nasty”, saying she “made a big mistake”. He insists he's been “nice and respectful”.

Seems like the crowd loved it. At a Georgia rally, supporters chanted “Lock her up!”

Female deacons

New Ways Ministry: The Catholic Church's three year Synod finished with a final document calling for transparency and more women's roles in Church life. Pope Francis accepted it as magisterial teaching.

Aleteia adds that the Synod called for women's ordination as deacons and wants lay participation to be mandatory -- that's to combat clericalism.

NCR Online thinks it's a step in the right direction, women deserve an equal role in the Catholic Church. Hopefully there's an explosion of opportunity.

But Crux Now says the Synod isn't dreaming of radical changes -- It's about steady reflection and continuity rather than revolutionary decisions.
