βοΈ Another whistleblower death
βοΈ Barstool: There are now two mysterious Boeing whistleblower deaths in a matter of months. Joshua Dean was said to have died of an infection, but was there something more sinister here?
βοΈ The Daily Beast also implies that something fishy is going on. Dean had alleged serious misconduct on the 737 line before being fired in April 23.
βοΈ But a Redditor on r/AirCrashInvestigation thinks Dean probably died from what they say he did: a staph infection in the hospital.
βοΈ Another Redditor has a grim joke: Boeing whistleblowers have a higher death rate than COVID.
π Dr. Orangutan
π Axios: An orangutan was spotted medicating his face wound with a medicinal plant. Researchers say it may be the first documented instance of a wild animal using a plant for wound care.
π Read the study in question here. Authors say the orangutan's self-medication hints at animal self-care smarts.
π The NYT says documented instances of animals self-medicating are rare β but we already knew primates treated wounds.
π Still, a professor in Stat News believes that the report challenges human exceptionalism: Humans tend to assume they're more unique than they actually are.
