Trump nominates RFK Jr.
President-elect Trump has nominated Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. The Hill says Kennedy's leadership could mean an agency-wide shift towards an anti-vaccine stance.
An ADN Op argues that Trump's move is a huge mistake: RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine stance could undo decades of public health work! He's full of “crackpot” ideas, and his leadership is dangerous.
NBC says there are concerns within the FDA about RFK Jr., too: Many workers are making an exit plan and/or preparing for retirement.
For what it's worth, The NYT suggests Trump's decision with RFK Jr. could alter America's public health policies -- and illustrates the need for nuance in public health messaging.
Disney’s box office surge
The success of “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Inside Out 2” buoyed Disney's fourth-quarter financial results: The movies took the box office by storm, quadrupling Disney's entertainment income -- and exceeding Wall Street expectations.
Irish Times says the results are a big deal: The stellar performance of these blockbusters lifted Disney's bottom line by 39%. It's one of the best quarters in studio history!
Variety notes that Disney+ also hit 120 million subscribers -- it's clear the popular films are driving both box office and streaming successes.
The Guardian says it's not all good news for Disney, though: The company's traditional TV networks continue to struggle with falling profits.
Either way, Financial Times says Walt Disney shares surged over 9% after its earnings report.

2) Concerns arise over Pete Hegseth, Trump’s choice for Defense Secretary, amid past allegations and controversial views.
