MIT’s diversity stats
MIT's class of 2028 saw a sharp drop in Black and Latino students. The NYT notes the change comes soon after the Supreme Court banned race-conscious affirmative action in college admissions.
Check out the class of 2028's class profile for yourself here.
Higher Ed Dive says MIT is blaming the Supreme Court for the drop: MIT’s dean of admission admitted that more needed to be done to ensure the school welcomes students “from all backgrounds”.
A Politico Op argues that many elite universities aren't doing enough to counter the SCOTUS decision: Schools' ongoing legacy preferences and wealth disparities prove it.
On the other hand, @Looking_finding says the make-up of MIT's class of 2028 is NBD: Asian students have always represented a large % of students. “MIT was never good at diversity”.
Chick-fil-A’s streaming service
The fast food chain Chick-Fil-A is planning to launch a streaming service. Deadline says the chicken company is looking to jump into family-friendly entertainment and unscripted TV.
WJBQ was amused: Chick-fil-A's move is “hilariously chaotic”. But who knows, people may love it!
But Mashable was critical: Does anyone actually want a Chick-fil-A's streaming service? Their plans face a crowded market and social media mockery.
For better or for worse, Today says people online met the news with cheeky jokes -- one person even joked about Chick-fil-A's streaming service being “off the air on Sundays”.
