🍔 Chick-fil-A’s first new menu item in 9 years

Happy Friday! It’s September 8 — people are talking about Hunter Biden’s expected indictment, Chick-fil-A’s first new menu item in 9 years, and more.

As always, we’ve summarized and organized the different shades of perspective, so you can see the big picture quickly.

🏛️ In the news: Hunter Biden’s indictment

The DOJ plans to indict Hunter Biden on gun-related charges before the end of September. Hunter had previously arranged for a plea deal, but it fell flat in court.

🏛️ Osborne Cox said practically no one gets indicted for lying on a gun application — the DOJ is only doing this to appease Republicans and Fox News.

🏛️ But during a segment on Fox News, Guy Benson didn't seem too appeased. He said special counsel David Weiss has a history of protecting Hunter.

🏛️ National Review wasn't happy either: Weiss waited way too long to indict. Many of Hunter's crimes are now outside the statute of limitations.

🏛️ Either way, the Washington Examiner wrote about potentially major implications for Joe Biden. Joe seems like a supportive father, and would probably testify if Hunter asked — but it would hurt his re-election chances.

🍔 Cultural trend: Chick-fil-A’s new menu item

Last month, Chick-fil-A introduced its first new menu items in 9 years — one of which is the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich.

🍔 WaPo: Chick-fil-A almost never changes its menu — but this leap of faith paid off. Although the new sandwich could do with less honey, it’s great overall!

🍔 NJ.com disagreed: The new sandwich doesn’t live up to the hype. It's just not as good as the original. There are too many ingredients, resulting in a drippy mess — Chick-fil-A should keep it simple.

🍔 But the Daily Meal said the new sandwich actually makes the original look lackluster in comparison. It’s got great ingredients, and actually could use even more pimento and jalapeños.

🍔 Chick-fil-A released a quiz on the history of pimento cheese as part of the sandwich’s launch. If you consider yourself a pimento fan, you can take it here!
