🏙️ Topeka’s migrant work program

Topeka's bid to fill job gaps with migrants sparks debate: Some see economic genius, but others flag risks and ridicule the plan.

🏙️ Facing stagnant population growth, Topeka, Kansas is welcoming migrants with work permits. The WSJ says it's a strategic move to fill job vacancies.

🏙️ Topeka Mayor Michael Padilla says the move has brought economic and cultural benefits: Migrants brought innovation and culture to Kansas's capital city.

🏙️ @KrauseForIowa on X praised the plan: Topeka's strategy to boost its population is a good idea — other cities should take note.

🏙️ But Tomi Lahren wasn't a fan: Topeka's migrant invitation is “incredibly ridiculous”. It feels like a political stunt to keep the city leaning Democrat.

🏙️ Hot Air was critical as well: Despite a cash incentive, only 70 people have moved under the program — seems misguided and ineffective.

🐂 Bullfighting in Mexico City

Bullfighting's fate is up in the air as tradition clashes with animal rights.

🐂 NYT: Mexico City allowed bullfighting to return to La Plaza México, igniting a fierce debate: Is it a valid cultural tradition, or animal cruelty?

🐂 Soapboxie says it's so messed up. Bullfighting is a cruel tradition that should be banned. The bulls suffer for our enjoyment, that's sick.

🐂 But Ethics Unwrapped points out that it's seen by many as a cultural art form that showcases a mastery of flair. How is it any different from killing a cow and eating it?

🐂 It might not matter, though — Mexico News Daily reports that just a few days later, a judge halted bullfights in Mexico City, citing animal cruelty laws.
