🎙️ Biden’s SOTU address
Some call Biden’s speech a campaign-ready knockout; others slam it as divisive.
🎙️ On March 7, President Biden delivered his 3rd State of the Union address. Check out a condensed, 4-minute version of his speech from MSNBC here.
🎙️ Time praised the speech: Biden's SOTU was a career-best — he successfully showcased his readiness for re-election.
🎙️ Vox also applauded Biden's blunt defense of democracy: It was the perfect way to counter against Trump's threats.
🎙️ But the WSJ Ed Board was not impressed: Biden's SOTU was a divisive Democratic rally. He should've included at least one attempt at bipartisanship.
🎙️ And National Review agreed. Biden's SOTU was a shouty letdown — all he did was loudly pander to the left.
🎬 The Rust guilty ruling
A “Rust” armorer's guilty verdict has sparked debate: negligence, or scapegoating?
🎬 A tragic on-set incident led to the death of on-set cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. After a 2-week trial, “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
🎬 The NYT explained the jury found Gutierrez-Reed guilty because she failed to check the rounds loaded into the on-set gun. It's still a bit of a mystery where the live rounds came from.
🎬 A Redditor on r/Fauxmoi agreed with the guilty verdict: Gutierrez-Reed was definitely guilty of willful negligence. Ensuring on-set safety was her job!
🎬 @Daybrkd on X blames Alec Baldwin too. He fired the shot, and should be held “just as accountable”.
🎬 By the way, Baldwin is facing his own involuntary manslaughter charge. Fox News says Gutierrez-Reed's guilty verdict spiked the actor's nerves.
