🐝 Beyoncé’s skin tone ignites colorism debate
Beyoncé’s skin tone at the “Renaissance” debut sparked debate. Should we blame colorism, or lighting and makeup?
🐝 CNN: Beyoncé sparked controversy with her “Renaissance” film premiere look — some fans said her skin tone appeared lighter than usual.
🐝 El País thinks the conversation about Beyoncé's lighter-looking skin reflects deeper societal issues. The rumors that she bleaches her skin are unfounded, and colorism needs to be addressed.
🐝 But True and Pure Texture says it's not that deep: Beyoncé looks lighter thanks to an optical illusion. And her overall different look is a part of her creative storytelling!
🐝 Either way, Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles shut down the skin bleaching allegations, calling critics “sad little haters”.
🎓 Felicity Huffman comments on the college admission scandal
Felicity Huffman broke the silence on her 2019 college admission scandal.
🎓 CNN: Felicity Huffman finally spoke publicly about the 2019 college admissions scandal, in which she paid to falsify her daughter’s SAT results and served 11 days in jail. She said she “had” to break the law to give her daughter a leg up.
🎓 You can watch her full interview here.
🎓 The NY Post wasn't impressed: Huffman's statement reflects Hollywood's entitled snobbery. Huffman exposed the elite's disdain for people who don't have degrees, and for professions that don't require them.
🎓 A Redditor on r/Entertainment agreed: Felicity didn't have to commit crimes to give her daughter an edge. How about getting a tutor?
🎓 OutKick also noted that Huffman tried to relate to the “Black and Brown community” when talking about the FBI’s raid on her home, and it came off as out of touch.
