COVID FLiRT variants

The new FLiRT COVID-19 variants, including KP.2 and KP.3, are on the rise in the US. Today says these variants are driving about 70% of infections nationwide -- but they probably won't cause dramatically different symptoms from previous strains.

Cosmopolitan: Yup. FLiRT covid symptoms are similar to ones from previous strains -- high temperatures, cough, or tiredness.

But LA Times sounded the alarm: Some say the FLiRT COVID variants are causing their worst symptoms yet, despite myths of milder reinfections.

The NYT says FLiRT Covid variants can cause overlooked symptoms, too -- like stomach pain and diarrhea.

Still, Fox News says the rise in FLiRT cases haven't translated to higher hospitalizations or deaths. If you feel ill, it's best to take a COVID rapid test.

Baldwin’s “Rust” trial begins

WaPo: Alec Baldwin’s “Rust” shooting trial begins, almost 3 years after a prop revolver went off on set. Baldwin faces up to 18 months in prison if convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

NY Post says the outcome of the trial comes down to a single fact: Did Baldwin pull the trigger?

Fox News: Alec Baldwin's emotional volatility could jeopardize his defense. He shouldn't take the stand.

An NYT Op said Alec already hurt his defense, though: His decision to talk to police illustrates the danger of talking without an attorney present.

But CNN says the defense has already won big: The Judge rules that Alec Baldwin's producer role won't be considered in “Rust” trial.
