4 quick hits of news from the last 24 hours
Dick Cheney endorses Kamala
Former VP Dick Cheney endorses Kamala Harris over Trump, citing Trump as a “grave threat” to democracy “in its 248-year history”, says CNN.
ABC: Will this help attract disillusioned GOP voters from Trump's “unorthodox” style to Harris's camp?
MSNBC: This was a major shocker.
The Hill: Trump was angry and lashed out, dismissing Cheney as a “RINO” and criticizing his past.
While this X user brings some comic relief: Dick Cheney traveled to see Taylor Swift instead of speaking at the Democratic National Convention.
Anti-shooting technology
The NYT says anti-school shooting tech, like panic button alert systems and auto-locking doors, save lives: These systems minimized casualties at the Apalachee High School incident.
A Georgia Teacher on CNN echoed the sentiment: “It's insane” how the tech helped officials respond to the threat in a timely manner.
How exactly do the panic buttons work? Fox Business says Centegix, the company behind the tech, explains: Centegix’s CrisisAlert uses cloud tech to ensure quick emergency notifications and precise threat tracking.
But NPR says real solutions lie beyond tech: To stop school shootings, we must address the root causes and identify crisis students early.
