Trudeau at Mar-a-Lago

CTV News: Trudeau heads to Mar-a-Lago as Trump's tariff threats against Canada and Mexico loom large, potentially impacting Canadian jobs and economy. Trudeau is showing how serious he is about addressing Trump’s threats.

Fox News notes that Trudeau is his the first G-7 leader to meet Trump. His goal is to steer U.S.-Canada relations away from looming tariffs. And he has some leverage: Canada is noted as a significant supplier of energy and critical minerals to the United States, being the largest provider of U.S. imported crude oil and other key resources.

CBS says Trudeau’s pitch will be that Trump's tariffs would not only harm Canadian industries but also raise costs for American consumers. Also, the U.S. makes relatively few arrests at the Canadian border, compared to much higher numbers at the Mexican border. Why would Trump lump Canada with Mexico.

WPTV adds that Trump’s position is that tariffs are a tool to fight cross border migration and drug trafficking.
