Swing state voting changes
CNN says changes are coming to the swing states of Georgia and North Carolina: Georgia has its number of reduced early voting drop boxes in 2024. But the state also offers more ways for voters to cast their vote early.
And BBC says the strategic importance of early voting in Georgia is huge. It's a crucial swing state!
Meanwhile, Vote411 reports that North Carolina registered voters can easily vote by mail -- you won't need an excuse to cast your vote anymore.
On the other hand, Fox Carolina says the changes that matter most are early voting locations. Keeping locations accessible is key for voters in crucial swing states like Georgia and North Carolina.
67 days adrift at sea
45-year-old Mikhail Pichugin survived 67 days adrift in the unforgiving Sea of Okhotsk. Daily Mail said he lost 50kg as he battled harsh conditions.
Central Fife Times explains: Pichugin set out on a whale-watching trip with his brother and nephew -- but after their boats' engine died, the trio were adrift at sea. Mikhail was the only one who survived.
CBS says the survival story shows both the perils of sea travel and Pichugin's enduring spirit: He managed to survive with no working engine in one of East Asia's coldest seas.
But The Helensburgh Advertiser thinks the tragedy points to something else: The dangers of ignoring safety regulations. Prosecutors are investigating safety violations that led to the deaths.
