đźšż How often should we shower?

Good morning! Jeff Grimes here, coming to you with the shades of the day for July 20.

Today’s shaded topics include the U.S. team’s chances at the Women’s World Cup, the debate over how often to shower, and more.

In the news: Can anyone beat USWNT?

⚽ Today is the first day of the Women’s World Cup. The U.S. Women’s National Team is the heavy favorite to win, but naysayers say injuries and inexperience could kill them -- plus, there’s stiff competition.

CBS says USWNT is the heavy favorite to win, despite some setbacks. Their odds to win are +225.

But The Guardian isn't convinced. Injuries and inexperience are their biggest hurdles, and they’re under a ton of pressure to threepeat.

Euronews says England and the U.S. are neck and neck. The Brits are definitely the strongest of the Euro countries.

Just Womens’ Sports thinks Sweden could take it all. They play well against the U.S., and they have a talented striker in Fridolina Rolfö.

Fox Sports says at the end of the day, the U.S. is still the heaviest hitter. Here comes the threepeat!

Cultural trend: How often should we shower?

đźšżDermatologists say that people should shower 2-3 times a week to take care of their skin. But not everyone is on board.

Today.com said we should shower 2-3x a week. But host Al Roker wasn't on board -- we should shower every day for others’ sake.

Harvard Health: Yup, 2-3x a week is the right number for your average Joe. Overwashing can dry out your skin.

But most people still choose to shower every day. A 2021 YouGov poll found that 51% of Americans take a daily rinse.

And this Allure writer isn't interested in what doctors have to say: Shower once a day or bust. If you have dry skin, use lotion!

realsimple.com’s take: The # of showers you need depends on your skin type, your activity level, and the season. Do what works for you!
